Get in the Swim at Melrose This Fall
New Schedule beginning August 23, 2010
Dear Friends,
Thank you so much for checking out my new swim school! I am so excited
to be sharing my love of swimming with young children in the neighborhood
I grew up in. Swimming has meant so much to me, and I can't think of a
better way to pass on my knowledge, expertise, and passion to the next
generation than to teach kids to love swimming and be safe around water!
I look forward to seeing you on deck at Melrose!

Description
The class structure
and curriculum has been developed by Misty. It is a combination of the
best practices from existing programs such as Swim America, USA Swimming
Foundation, the YMCA, and her own special expertise that comes from years
of experience as a teacher, coach, and swimmer.
- The main
emphasis is on fun and safety.
- The second
emphasis is on laying a solid foundation of proper swimming skills so
that students learn good habits that allow them to be successful at
whatever level they choose to take their swimming.
Upon the completion
of eight sessions at one level the swimmer will be given a fun "water
challenge" to test their skills. At the conclusion of class each swimmer
will receive a certificate to recognize their achievement. Each child
will be eligible to move up to the next level based on their age and the
instructor's recommendation.
Learning to swim is
a lifelong gift that you give your child. Not only does it reduce their
risk of drowning, but it also opens the door to an abundance of recreational
and fitness opportunities that last a lifetime. From pool parties, beaches,
and water parks to staying in shape when they are 80 years old. Your child
may never thank you for this gift, but they will benefit from it for the
rest of their lives.

Class
Levels
-
Average
class size is four swimmers per instructor.
-
Classes
are 35 minutes long.
-
Instructors
cater the class to the student.
- Classes are interchangeable,
however, for consistency; we recommend that the child is with the
same instructor as much as possible.
- For best results
we recommend the swimmers come 2 - 3 times per week, and no more than
4 times per week.
